UltraTouch Cotton Insulation
What is It?
UltraTouch
all-cotton insulation represents a far superior and safer alternative
to traditional fiberglass.
It is a
Class-A Building Product, and meets the highest ASTM testing standards
for fire and smoke ratings, mold/mildew/fungi resistance, pest
inhibitance and corrosion-resistance.
It
provides insulative qualities equal to the highest quality fiberglass
or cellulose—but all-natural cotton doesn't lose R-Value at lower
temperatures the way fiberglass does!
UltraTouch
possesses superior sound-absorption qualities, in fact it's the
product of choice for professional acoustical engineers!
Because
it does not itch or irritate—and because of the cotton's natural
rigidity—UltraTouch is extremely easy to install, and requires no
specialized clothing, equipment or safety-training.
Why is it Green?

Healthy
Product
UltraTouch
contains no pervasive VOC's or carcinogenic particulates, and
requires no warning labels.
Fiberglass is composed of microscopic spun-glass shards. These tiny
particles tend to remain airborne—blown via air-convection
and HVAC throughout your home or environmentally disbursed from
dumping sites—and they've been linked to a host of respiratory
problems including lung cancer. In fact it's already being called “the
next asbestos”.
UltraTouch cotton insulation does not itch or irritate.

Pricing and Specifications
Each cotton
bat is 94" long, and manufactured in over-size widths to give a tight friction-fit between standard
16" on-center wall studs or 24" on-center ceiling/floor joists--simply
press into place and that's it! The natural rigidity of the cotton ensures it won't sag in vertical applications, however the R-13, 24" bats may need supportive stapling during overhead installations.
Cutting: With it's superior fiber-density to fiberglass, cotton insulation doesn't cut well with a standard utility blade. A jigsaw or table saw works quite well however, as will a circular saw (the manufacturer recommends reversing the blade so the teeth turn the opposite direction). We also offer a specialty tool called an Insul-Knife should you wish, which is essentially an un-toothed handsaw for a variety of foam-panel and batted insulation materials. And of course cotton insulation can be torn easily by hand, allowing unparalleled flexibility for sealing snugly around obstructions such as plumbing, vent lines, electrical boxes, etc. as well as filling small openings around windows and doors.
Bats are unfaced. If a vapor barrier is desired, simply staple a sheet of polyethylene across the insulated surface.

For orders over 30 bags please inquire about Contractor Pricing / projects over 16,000 sq ft may qualify for steeper discounting.
Effective 11-11-07: due to significantly higher manufacturer's prices and rising fuel costs the above pricing has increased. For customers / contractors holding product spec sheets, please make note of this updated pricing. We've tried to absorb these increases as best we can within our already low price margins.
Note: Bats are compressed slightly for packaging. Brief shaking will restore them to their original thickness.
